My theme is “Hearts on Fire for Veterans.” Colors are Red, White and Blue. Symbol is Hearts. Songs are “Amazing Grace” and ‘God Bless the USA.’
Scripture Readings: “Well done my good and faithful servant, enter into the kingdom of God” John 3: 16 & 17 “For God so loved the world he gave his only Son that everyone who believes in Him might not parish but have eternal life.” Verse 17 is the real catcher. “For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved thru Him.”
We all need to work for the same purpose that is for our Veterans and their families.
My projects are the Des Moines VA and ALA Gold Club. (Continue to support all VA Hospitals and Marshalltown Veterans Home.)
Become familiar with all programs of the ALA. You can’t do them all, so pick 1 or 2 and do them well. Keep track of hours and money spent on these activities and record them, so you can write a narrative and send to the Department Chairman. We need to do a better job at reporting so we can give more accurate information to National so they can address Congress.
We need to work hard on membership. I know you get tired of hearing that, but if we don’t have the money collected from dues, we can’t support the programs of the ALA.
We can’t continue to let our membership decline. We need to build it up. So let’s try really hard to make goal plus this year, because we are the only ones that can change it.
Ask those who you come in contact with if they are eligible to join and keep blank membership forms in your purse at all times. Step children are eligible to join also..
Work as a team and respect others opinions. Be open to change. Sometimes change is a good thing. Just because we have always done it this way, doesn’t mean something new might just be better.
I look forward to working with each one of you. We are all a team focused on “Hearts on Fire for Veterans.”
