On the list of the top 100 US patriotic songs, the top 3 are:

#3. “America the Beautiful” sung by Elvis Presley

#2. “God Bless America” sung by Kate Smith

And #1……(drum roll please)……”The Star Spangled Banner” with a multitude of beautiful renditions.

Music has a way of touching your heart. It conveys messages that are sometimes hard to put into plain words. It adds life and joy and enthusiasm to a Unit or District meeting. If you don’t have a piano or keyboard, songs can be recorded on a variety of devices.

Here are a few suggestions for songs to use at your meetings:

God Bless America, Yankee Doodle Boy, To the Auxiliary (November is the Auxiliary’s birthday month), America, America the Beautiful, Battle Hymn of the Republic, When Johnny Comes Marching Home, You’re a Grand Old Flag, This Is My Country, Yankee Doodle Dandy, and any of the Service Anthems from the various branches of the military (March is the Legion’s birthday month). And of course, Happy Birthday can usually be sung at all meetings as someone is bound to have a birthday!

President Vickie has chosen some very meaningful songs for her year: “On Eagles Wings”, “Wind Beneath Our Wings”, “God Bless the USA”, and at the end of her installation we heard “Happy Trails to You”.
