National President  Lisa Williamson will be arriving in Iowa May 18th and staying till May 22nd.

Please offer her the Iowa Nice Smile and welcome her to our State. 

May 18th -Lisa will be picked up at the airport and will arrive at Miracles in Motion in Swisher around 3 pm. After a visit there they will head to Swisher Legion for Supper at 6 pm. If you want to attend these events please advise by registering. She will be escorted by the Riders.

May 19th – Lisa will have a relaxed day of enjoying the sites around Eastern Iowa and enjoying some good food.

May 20th – Lisa will depart Cedar Rapids and head to Iowa Veterans Home. More details on IVH activities coming soon.

Lisa will then depart IVH and head to Ames, where she will get to enjoy activities and Iowa Ham Balls for the meal

May 20th- Lisa will be heading to the Gold Star Museum and the Van Meter Veterans Cemetary and out to dinner for her final day in Iowa. 

Junior Camp will be held at the Christian Conference Center in Newton Iowa.

Saturday’s meeting begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes at about 3:30 p.m. at the Holmes Murphy 2727 Grand Prairie Pkwy, Waukee, IA 50263

Coffee, Juice, and Donuts will be provided on Saturday starting at 9:00 a.m.

Lunch will be provided at Saturday’s meeting.

• 2024 National Convention

  New Orleans, Louisiana – August 23 – 29, 2024
  

  The annual National Convention is the governing body of The American Legion.  Each of the Legion’s 55 departments – the 50 states, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, France, Central America and Philippines – is entitled to a minimum of five voting delegates to the convention. A department is granted one additional delegate for each 1,000 members (or major fraction thereof) 30 days before the convention. 

  Delegates and Alternates for the Department of Iowa are selected at the Spring District Conferences and ratified at the annual Department Convention.  Those not elected as a Delegate or Alternate at the Spring District Conference, you may still attend the Natioanl Convention as a Guest.

  Registration for Delegates, Alternates, and Guests to the National Convention is $35.  Registration forms are available at district conferences or can be downloaded below.

  All room reservations should be made through The American Legion, Department of Iowa, using Form 1.
