A Message From Your President

My theme this year is Hats off to our Veterans; my focus is on veterans rehabilitation & therapy activities, remembrance of Vietnam Veterans especially but honoring all veterans.

My projects this year will be:

Castaways; their mission is to encourage a rehabilitative and therapeutic fishing event to Veterans with life changing disabilities.  Their events offer veterans a chance to build camaraderie with fellow veterans in the beauty and serenity of the outdoors, all while being part of rehabilitative and recreational activities.

Miracles in Motion; MVECS Military Veterans Equine Care Squad. This program is designed with the Veteran in mind: created by and for veterans.  Programming is focused on stress and anxiety reduction, building relationships, creating connections with fellow veterans and enhancing each participant’s confidence.

VVMF-Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund; leads the way in honoring America’s Vietnam veterans and educating current generations about the impact of the Vietnam War and era.  In Memory is way that VVMF can honor all Vietnam veterans on the national mall.   The in Memory program honors Vietnam veterans who came home and later died but are not eligible for inscription on The Wall under Department of Defense guidelines.  They often suffered for many years from Agent Orange exposure and PTSD due to their service.  Iowa has a Vietnam memorial in Des Moines at the capital; there is a ceremony held there in May.

And finally, to continue with the “Be the One” initiative.
